An inspection for valuation was carried out by the undersigned whilst the yacht was at anchor in Tyrell Bay, Harvey Vale. Carriacou. Grenada.

The Sparkman & Stephens designed Swan 40 is a much sought after modern “Classic” yacht and “Tabasco” has been maintained in good sailing order, she is equipped with modern navigation aids and the interior joinery work is in above average condition for a yacht of this age.

The cosmetic condition of the topsides, decks and cockpit is poor and she would benefit from repainting, possibly with Awlgrip.

The mainsail and jib appear to be in the latter stages of usefulness, and whilst serviceable, replacement in the near future should be a consideration.

During late 2014, t undersigned inspected the underwater hull and took moisture readings using a  “Novanex” moisture meter. These were found to be well within acceptable limits.

The rudder was subject to minor repairs which were examined and approved.

Propeller, shaft and bearings were found to be in good order.

Guardrails and stanchions require attention, but are currently viable.

The cooker  propane installation requires revising with the cylinder to be located in a draining locker or on deck and fitted with a remote shut-off.

The dinghy was not inspected. Tohatsu outboard viewed.

The main engine was not started, but is reportedly in good running order.

It is assessed that the cost of repainting the exterior and replacing the working sails could be in the region of $20,000 U.S.D.

The undersigned considers that taking into account the above potential costs, the current value of “Tabasco” based upon a sale between willing Buyer & willing Seller on an “As is where lies” basis to be:-

$45,000. 00 (Forty five thousand dollars U.S.)

CONCLUSION

During the course of the inspection. areas of the hull structure obscured by linings, paneling, built in furniture, tanks, shower trays, fixed cabin soles and machinery, were not examined.

There was no dismantling of machinery or equipment. Shafts were not drawn or couplings disconnected.

This report is a factual statement of the examination carried out with opinions given in good faith. Whilst the Company and its Surveyor have used their best endeavors to ensure that the functions of the inspection have been properly executed, it must be understood that no responsibility will be accepted for any inaccuracy, error of judgment, omission or default arising from this report. This report does not constitute an inventory.
