SWAN by S&S

Sophie B has new owners in Cape Town, South Africa, and has been bought specifically for the 2017 Cape-to-Rio race. A brief history: Our understanding (it may be apocryphal!) is that she was built and launched in 1979 for the then CEO of Nautor who spent his honeymooon on her. She was sold shortly after to Bruce Owen and sailed in the disastrous 1979 Fastnet race, and although retired, made it through the storm unscathed. In 1981, she was sold and came to Cape Town, and was sold again in 1992. She has been in Cape Town since 1981 and is based at the V&A Marina. We are thus her fifth owners.
