37 mast Hi guys,
Making good progress, we now have bought the engine and prop with some good advice from Lars and the others on the forum.
Trying to make a start on the mast is difficult as the local rigging shop is only interested in selling me a new one not fixing the old one.
He is concerned about the joins in the mast. As far as I am aware this is normal?
It appears the mast is in three pieces, one join at deck level and another below the spreaders.
I read in another post that Lars suggested to take the joins apart to inspect them. Has anyone done this? How hard was it?
As always any advice is warmly appreciated.
Cheers
Fletch

Dear Fletch
I would say that there was only one joint in the mast about halfway up originally.
Suggest you begin by inspecting the joint screws, is there visible movement in them? Is the screw size and pattern the same for both joints? Corrosion around the screws? Misaligned sections and gaps at the joints?
Kind regards
Lars
