Swan 40 diesel tank filler
Filling my tank with diesel is a nerve-wracking, very slow process. However much care I take diesel fuel always froths back up the filler pipe and on to my cockpit teak. I fill up before leaving the marina so the fuel already in the tank has not been shaken. I can only fill the tank about 80% Of course I wet the teak with water and detergent beforehand but the overflow is not very ecological.
Is this a common problem on these boats ?
Thanks
Richard Forrest

Lots of Richard questions today... really good to hear from you again and hope all is well!!
Anyway, Yes I have the same problem. The solution I think is to improve the ventilation to the tank .. another project. (;-) Lars may have a better suggestion.

Fair winds

Dear Mike and Richard
Sounds like the fuel tank vent line has a restriction. Check that the hose has not flattened, and that there are no low points where fuel can collect, i.e. the hose must ascend all the way to the high point, and descend all the way from there.
Kind regards
Lars

Hello.
Not sure where you are sailing. Here in the Med some bees make their kid's nests with mud, and they love doing this in vent holes. This happened to us and vent holes being at the bottom of the transom, it was not easy to find, why we had so many problems with the shower exit in the grey water tank...
Kind regards.

Thanks to all. I certainly prefer bees to cockroaches.
