Liferafts and cockpit lockers
Dear Friends, and particularly 47' owners.
I am struggling to find a 4 man liferaft which will fit into the cockpit lockers on my 47'and meet the requirements of the AZAB 2015 - they all seem too big these days.. Putting a canister up on deck would do it, but if possible I would prefer to use either of the 2 cockpit lockers
I need a 4 man in a valise which meets either the SOLAS LSA code 1997 Chapter IV with an "A" pack or ISO 9650-1:2005, Part I, Type I, Group A with a +24hr pack.
Does any 47 owners out there still use these cockpit lockers for liferafts?

Dear Rob,

onboard Vanessa we found, from the previous owner, a BFA Atlantic S4 and it perfectly fits either on BB/STB cockpit locker, I can't send you right now exact details as I just sent it to overhaul and it should be back in about a month

Thanks Matteo, I have followed that up, and it appears those life rafts prior to 2007 were subject to a general maufacturers recall due to valves failing. It looks like they were later taken over by Zodiac? Maybe worth checking the date of yours and making sure it had the necessary updates etc.

Rob, I can't remember the make, but we had one on Black Tie which just fitted and I think it was an 8 man raft in a valise. Black Tie's current owner who is a member of this association might know the make of it. Gavin

Thanks all, I have found a chap called Yiannis from Waypoint Liferafts who has offered to pack a new liferaft in a valise to fit my cockpit locker. I will let you know if it is a success when it arrives!
