Ship stamp

The winter is long, and the boat is far. So I designed a ship stamp, which will be applied to all charts and books on the boat, as well as all post cards being sent. I used Powerpoint drawing features to copy the shape of a 411, and text art features for the text, then took a high definition screenshot of this and sent it to an Internet stamp service. I chose a Colop R50 stamp, which has 50mm diameter and therefore allows to show some detail. All included this was 40 EUR, and 3 hours of work. If somebody is interested I can send the Powerpoint file.

Hi Folks,

we too think it absolutely necessary to have a proper ship stamp for an S&S Swan! Many years ago, we made a stamp for 47/13 VERA (see pic below). We could send a .pdf file to other 47 deep keel version owners. Please contact us (with your ships name, hull number and building year), if you want one. It might take a while though, as we will be cruising away from any internet connection in the next couple of month.

Kind regards, Britta and Michael / SY VERA / Puerto Williams / Isla Navarino / Chile

Hi Britta and Michael,

this is a very nice stamp. I am glad there is a classic Swan ship stamp community out there!

All the best for your upcoming adventures!

Hi Mike - I will send you the little manual that I already have sent Matteo.

I sent my Powerpoint with instructions to Matteo, who is currently doing frozen rather than liquid water sports. He will put it on classicswan.org when he is back.

There is an artist in Germany who does ship stamps. Her web site may serve as inspiration: http://melaniegebker.de/schiffsstempel

Also, with Google you find a lot of examples.

Hi Rob,

we‘ll just need the year when your Sarabande / No 029 was build, and your e-mail address. We‘ll send you a .pdf file adapted to your boat, for free off course.

With this .pdf in hand, you can go to any stamp maker and have a stamp made for you. Different stamp sizes are possible. Ours is quite large, about 8cm high. Smaller stamps might loose some of the finder lines, but will look good, too. You can also use the .pdf to have a T-shirt printed, or even a largish harbour flag. Looks great and the resolution is practically infinite, as ours is a vector graphic.

If other owners are interested, we might find the time to produce this .pdf file for other S&S Swans for fun. A version i.e. for a centerboard S&S 47 would not be too much work. Just contact us with your wishes and boats size, name, year, hull number. And give us lots of time.

Kind regards, Britta and Michael / 47-13 / SY VERA / Puerto Williams / Chile

Hi folks,

below you see how our stamp / T-Shirt / Harbor flag .pdf would look like for the 47 CB. Matteo S.: If you want one, contact us.

Again: If anyone is interested, we might find the time to produce this .pdf file for other S&S Swans for fun. Just contact us with your boats size, name, year, hull number. And give us lots of time.
