Removal of engine shaft - Swan 48

Dear friends,

one more question:

We need to remove the engine shaft to fix it. But we will not remove the engine itself.

Therefore it is difficult to get the shaft out over the stern because of the shaft bearing and the skeg.

Any helpful advices???

Dear Ulli

Remove the Cutlass bearing from the strut after opening the set screws on SB side. Extractor recommended. Loosen the shaft seal, then pull the aft end of the shaft to the side, and check if it can pass the skeg.
Would appreciate to hear how it goes.
While the shaft is out it would be good to check the inside of the stern tube for corrosion.
Kind regards
Lars
