Damage to hull, hard standing strutt. How serious is it?

Any one has any experience to offer?

The hull has an ugly indentation where the hard standing strutt has been supporting it.

Not sure what happened. I've asked the yard to look into it, and find a solution.

Any advice more than welcome.

Dear Michele

This must be repaired.
Has the yacht been standing on shore for a long time?
The main load should be on the keel, with the supports only keepíng the yacht upright.
There has been far too much strut load on a too small area with the strut improperly located, i.e. not against an inside stiffener or bulkhead.
The laminate has been seriously overloaded, and the indent needs to be cut away to some distance outside the edges, a guess is two inches - check where the microcracking and delamination ends - and a new laminate laid up with the proper tapering around the edges on the outside.
It is not necessary to use the original lay-up provided the same thickness is used with a laminate consisting of biaxial +-45 degrees reinforcements with every second layer laid at 0/90 degrees. This is stronger than the original.
Epoxy resin recommended.
Kind regards
Lars
