Dear Jim

Enclosed a photo of the boom end.
The topping lift goes in through the round hole, and three slots can be seen in the end plate. Behind mid slot is the sheave for the outhaul, the two other sheaves are for the reefing lines.
There is probably a tackle inside the boom for the outhaul, and it comes out through the side of the boom to a cleat. The topping lift is led to another cleat
Kind regards
Lars

Dear Lars

Many thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately no tackle in boom when I bought the boat!

Am I correct in assuming outhaul uses sheave box in pictures and the exit in last picture?

What magnitude of purchase is required?

Kind Regards

Jim

Dear Jim

Thank you for the photos.
If there is a slot for the sheave box near the forward end on the underside of the boom, the outhaul needs a fiddle block with two sheaves attached to the hauling part.
The tackle is attached to the sheave box aft pin, goes aft over the smaller block sheave, fwd over the smaller sheave, aft over the bigger block sheave, fwd over the bigger sheave, and out to a cleat on the underside of the boom aft of the sheave box. This results in 4:1.
Would you need a sketch?
Pls look at the ClassicSwan Swan 431 article named 2016 Palstek, there is a photo where this outhaul cleat is clearly visible under the boom.
The exit on the side is for the topping lift, goes to another cleat.
Kind regards
Lars

Dear Lars

Many thanks for your reply.

If you can provide a sketch that will make it foolproof!

On a different matter do you have any idea where replacement bushes for reefing jammers could be sourced?

Kind regards

Jim

Jim

Here the outhaul tackle sketch.
The reefing jammers were originally made by the yard, but I doubt that replacement bushes would be available
Kind regards

Lars
