Swan 57 forward trim, question for the Professor

Dear Lars,

Thank you so much for all your kind advice in this forum, a gold mine of knowledge.

My Swan 57-035 Hermia II (Ex Shogun, Ex Alexandre 2) has a Hood Stoway mast with a mast furling arrangement, which works beautifully. The mast is however heavy and it has trimmed the boat on the nose (see photos). There is also 80m of 1/2" chain in the bow. I have since added a Panda 24v generator between the aft bunks and raked the mast which has helped a bit.

Would you have any idea how the keel pockets are loaded on this yacht (which was always a sloop)?

Do you think I should reduce the amount of chain an have for example 20m of chain and 100m of rode? I think chain is always chain, you know.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Dear Mats

Thank you for the information and photos.
At delivery the keel pockets were empty, and she had a mizzen mast.
The recommendation is to add internal ballast aft, most of the sloops have this.
You can try out the influence on the trim by having people with known weight to stand in the position where the ballast will be fitted.
Kind regards
Lars
