Mast sail track dimension Swan 47

As I am about 8400 kilometer away from my Swan 47 I am unable to check the mast track dimension. I am confident that the track is the original (Please see picture.)

Can anyone confirm the inner dimension? I am considering using the Rutgerson cars & slides system.

Dear Niels,

congratulations re the 47!

I think the mast profiles of the 48 and the 47 are identical, a 7/8" track. In that case: we have used Rutgerson cars on our 48 (see attached pic). Originally, we went with article 1530-23-05 with M10 bolts for the battens and article 1530-23-10 for the luff, but we have meanwhile changed the batten cars into "hi-load 23 M10". The reason is that the connection between the horizontal bolt and the vertical part is riveted, and we found the rivets to be the weak point. When the main is flapping, which is bound to happen in low winds with a rolling boat, the battens have enough tension to overload and break the rivets.
However, with the stronger hi-load batten cars, we have not had a single problem in three seasons so far, and the luff cars are unproblematic anyway.

Fair winds,

Martin (Vellamo, 48#039)

Hi Martin,

Thank you for your response.

So our track is 7/8 inch (about  22.2 mm) your article No indicates that the slide is 23 mm. So, my question is: does the 23 mm slide fit in?

Best

Dear Björn,

we have the same track (22 mm) - I am certain they fit. If you want, I can send you one of the spares we carry (or of the used ones), but with your boat so far away it will probably not help.

Best,
Martin
