Squeaky Rudder

Traced the squeak to this wheel.

the fulcrum bolt seams loose, the nut is loose and it has a kind of lever attached to it. It shows protruding to the front side of the wheel.

Can you please give me some advice? Should the bolt be loose and turn with the wherl? Shoul i try to tighten it instead?

Thanks a lot!!!

Hi Michele,

Please see the photograph of some of our sheaves dismantled (43/059) - The photo might help with your assembly. Likely similar?

The 'lever' is for retaining the cable so it doesn't 'jump' the sheave.

The bolt and side plates are torqued down on the stainless tube. i.e the bolt should not rotate. And the sheave rotates around the stainless tube on Nylon/Delrin bearings pressed into the sheave. These were quite worn on ours (lots of play) so we replaced them with new ones.

Apart from slackening the cable to inspect these are very straightforward to remove and inspect.

Lastly, if Lars replies, ignore this :)

Thanks,
Dan

Dear Michele

I agree with Dan, this is a bearing problem. It is suggested that you check all sheaves at the same time. Delrin is preferable over Nylon.
Kind regards
Lars
