Cockpit drains Dear all, in my 47 I have cockpit drains as shown on the images. In my previous 38 I had drains with large valves. I find it strange and maybe potentially dangerous that these drains are without valves. Or is this normal on a 47? jan kooistra 47/11 Yulunga |

Dear Jan, it's standard layout, and by the way it was the same, with no valves, onboard my previous S&S Swan 38 (hull no. 067)! Fair winds! matteo (47/079 Vanessa) |

Dear Matteo, I find it strange, because when sailing it's under water. And all through hulls should have a valve. On the other hand, you would never close it, because it won't drain when closed. You just killed a job on my todolist: many thanks Matteo! fair winds, Jan YULUNGA
PS: at present in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria preparing for a crossing to Grenada. So you can imagine the todolist is long enough. |

Dear Jan, we discussed this detail (valve yes/valve no) for years with Lars, and there are good reason to have it and good reason not to, so, happy I killed a job before your crossing! Please keep me posted on your next steps! Fair winds! matteo (47/069 Vanessa) |
