Where each boat has been...
Hello all:

I just moved my boat from Lake Michigan to Rhode Island, having originally bought her in San Diego. I began to wonder more about her history, whether she had sailed from Finland over to the west coast of the US, and where else she might have been. I am going to try and discover more about her history. I wonder if some of the other owners might be aware of how far and wide their boats have gone? If my boat has been in more oceans than any other, might I win a drink or something I wonder?

Fair Winds and Best Wishes for the holiday season coming up -

Has any owner taken his or her boat into all 5 oceans? How about 4? I know there are some circumnavigators out there which should mean 4 no problem -
Let's hear about it....

We just own Pippus since beginning 2012. Unfortunately we couldn't sail around 5 continents yet. But after years and years reading and learning about strength of these boats, the conditions we met last w/e (nov 30, dec 1-2, 2012) in 300 miles from Sardinia, Corsica until Genova gave us the real opportunity to test the boat under strong gale of 55/60 kts in the Bouche de Bonifacio for around 40 miles.
45/50 kts for 75 miles from Capraia island to Ligurian coast where at the end of the w/e (Sunday) 40 miles west of La Spezia a tornado hail thunder storm hit our 44 with gales of >60 kts (I wrote more than 60kts because our old B&G wind speed was at max scale) !
After that w/e we can easy say that Swan S&S are 'no limits' weather boats. ;)
Good Job!

Dear Alberto,

congratulation, to you and to Rod and Olin Stephens, and to all the people in Finland who made such indomitable boats!

Fair winds (I do think you are looking for fair winds, after all...!)

Not at all Matteo.... By the way the weather forecasts are always not right when you really need them, now I am much more confident in our capabilities and therefore in our autonomy.
With our boats We can really sail safely in all conditions! ;)

I have just finished a 500 miles solo winter cruise along north and Central Med with Pippus my Swan 44, facing F9 and F10 between Corse and Sardinia.

As I posed last year in December our lovely Swans are really 'No Limits' yachts!

I wondered that as a goal for 2014 would be nice to open a new threads in this Forum where everyone can inform the members where the are going to sail in the next days, perhaps with a map system like Marine Traffic software, where we can see where all the Members are located or sailing.
;)
Here is my short video tribute to my 44 Pippus: http://youtu.be/ErTFRHmCs1I

Happy New Year of sailing to all the Members!

Hello Aberto,

Your video is excellent and so is your boat. It was a pleasure watching. Thanks
