Our new 411
Hi All,

Here is our new 411, hull no. 11, ready for her trip to Seattle. She's needs some work, but mostly bottom paint, light deck restoration, and new sails.

I have some questions about keel bolts. I'll post them in the Maintenance Forum.

Congratulations! Is that the boat that was in Jamestown? If so, I looked at her and thought that she was a tremendous value. A great boat. You will love her!

Yes, it is the same boat. Even better than I thought as well. Sometimes you just get lucky. Now I have a 40' wooden sloop to sell.

I am very happy for you.  I recall speaking to her last owner, who used to be the Block Island Harbormaster, whenever he would see our Swan in New Harbor.  He obviously loved the boat and had tremendous confidence in her, having taken her across the Atlintic at least once or twice.  He also told me that he loved to single hand her with the spinnaker up -- something I haven't yet tried.  The best of luck with her.

Thanks for the heads up.

Continued good news. The hull is bone dry so I'm going to put on a new barrier coat and bottom paint. I found a fantastic stripper. Once I begin, I'll post some pictures. The quart that I used for a trial was tremendous.

I also got the leather interior just refinished for a very reasonable price. I'm now re-finishing the table top. Other than a new stove, the remaining interior needs very little.

I just got the previous owner's phone number from the broker. I'll call him to get sailing pointers-especially how to single hand with spinnaker.

Congratulations.  I also have a 411 that I keep at Elliot Bay.  Let me know if you want to meet up for chat/look around the boat.

That would be fantastic. Our boat is currently at Delta Marine. My cell number is in my profile. I have a lot to learn about the 411. I look forward to meeting you.
