swan 38 rudder moisture
hello,
I found a lot of threads about rudders within this site. Very useful! Nothing that I could find specifically relating to the following though...
A recent survey mentioned elevated moisture readings along the leading edge of the rudder. It suggested removing it and inspecting as a precaution. I suspect I would have to remove it and 'dismantle' it to inspect it properly, obviously i'd rather not if the elevated moisture here is normal.
It appears to function as it should and there is no play.
Any thoughts? leave it be or strip it apart?
cheers

Dear Pete
Do you know if the removable fairing piece along the leading edge is stainless or fiberglass?
In either case moisture is of little concern here. If stainless it would be in the filler, if fiberglass you could well wait and see until there are visible changes.
Kind regards
Lars

ok thanks for the reply.
Not sure... I thought they were stainless on the 38, perhaps it varied.
Either way it's reassuring that alarm bells haven't rang.
cheers
