Bulkhead Hole
We have a large hole in the bulkhead (port side, between salon and fireship) as can be seen in the first attached photo, which shows the hole from inside the armoire. It is covered by a teak shelf inside the salon, so it is not disturbing to the eye. The second photo, form the time we bought the boat, shows the shelf next to the weather instruments. The previous owner also does not know where this comes from. Any idea what kind of device or problem may have triggered one of the previous owners to cut such a hole?

Dear Christian
This hole could possibly have been cut for a solid fuel heater. Are there any signs in the deck above this of a chimney?
Kind regards
Lars

Thank you very much Lars! That could be the case - I will check for chimney signs!

This thought did not cross my mind since the boat had an Eberspächer diesel heating when we acquired it, and I am under the assumption that it came with a Webasto heating originally. But it could well be that there was another kind of heating in-between the two.
