Another deck hatch
Hi, it was a very hard decision to rip out the beautifully renoved S&S sliding hatch last winter. It had to go beacause it was sometimes too heavy to operate for my family crew.
The shiny outer edges are just a trim kit to be removed easily when in a need of revarnishing after some years (12 layers of 2-comp UV protected lacquer). Structurally it is very sound installation behind those shiny bling-bling parts. I can give You the details if interested. But it was a hard work to design and fabricate all the parts needed myself. The hatch itself is a standard Lewmar 60 flush hatch.
Favourable winds to You all!

Hi, for some unknown reason my username did not show in the original message. Anyway, the hatch is from CAID, Swan 431-12.

Nice looking job. Did the Lewmar fit exactly or is the name board a filler piece? Nice use of space for the solar panel too!

The name board is a filler piece as the original hatch opening is some 1300 mm longer than the Lewmar 60. BTW The original hatch has a new life onboard a finnish Swan 43 Avilion. These old beautys never die as they just keep on going!

...not 1300mm, actually 130 mm is more realistic difference in lenght...
