Propeller Setting for Callisto1 41/05
Hi

Would anybody be able to advise me on the correct setting for the Maxprop 2 blade 17" Engine is Perkins 4108 Gearbox BW velvet drive 2.10 : 1 (20 deg would = 11.6 pitch & 22 deg = 12.9 etc)

Dear Ron
The recommended pitch is 22 degrees, and the top speed to expect is a little over 7 knots. It is likely that the performance in strong headwinds is not very good, the reason is lack of propeller blade area, and 3 blades would bring an improvement.
A Speed-Consumption-Range diagram can be made if you measure a few rpm-speed-combinations.
Have a note that your yacht has spade rudder, if this is correct could you post a photo?
Kind regards
Lars

Hi Lars
Thanks for your quick response, I was surprised to find the prop is LH rotation was that standard with the original engine gearbox combination ? A new engine was installed in the USA 1987. Images external & internal as requested.
Thanks & regards
Ron

Ron
Thank you for the images
LH was standard. This will pull the stern to SB in reverse, but with the spade rudder you have better control than with the skeg rudder.

Lars
