Mold odor - how to remove?
When I bought Four Winds she have been on land for three years in Holland. The madras and cushion where left in the cabins. The result is that the cabin have a very strong odor of mold . Is any of you have recommendations on how to remove the smell?

I am considering using a ozone generator.

Thank you for any comments

Dear Bjorn,

sometimes washing with a mixture of 50% water and 50% vinegar works quite well , worth a try...

Fair winds!

While not answering your question directly, I am always very keen to avoid dampness and mold in the cabin. On Tigris I have three oil filled radiators in wooden bases running to ensure that the temperature inside the boat is warmer than outside. This seems to mean low humidity and a clean smelling boat.
This winter we have got dehumidifiers, but I think that heat might be enough.

We had a similar problem. Cleaning every corner of the entire boat inside helped, especially the focsle behind the teak lath, the chain locker and the bilge.

Ozone seems very effective, but may deteriorate rubber and plastic (and I vaguely remember: inox?) if applied excessively.
