Electric main switch S&S 44
SAFA's original main electrical switch (Heinemann?) - the time has come to replace it with a new one. Has somebody done his, which type switch may be the best and reliable for next 42 years? Nautor recommends K & N (Kraus & Naimer) switches.

I purchased Blu Sea Systems PN 5510e to install on Hatha. Have not installed it yet so I cannot report on it's operation, but I chose this one because it should function the same as the original.

By boring a slightly larger hole over the original, the body of the switch can be mounted behind the panel and below the seat in it's original location. Very tidy.

Good Luck

Thanks for information, my electrician recommended blue sea products too. Must buy!

Here is the new switch installed aboard Hatha. Hindsight tells me I should have moved it another inch or so inboard to cover one of the old mounting holes.

Dear All,

I also installed that same switch and it worked well for the brief period that my boat was in the water.

Tony H: I noticed your new water lines; can you elaborate on mfg and type? maybe another thread. Yet another project that confronts me!

Yes I removed all of the original water lines and replaced them with 3/8" Pex, which is a common plastic tubing used for residential plumbing these days.

Also replaced all valves with pvc ball valves, so there is no metal in the system anymore other than the tanks, the fittings, and the faucets. The fittings are brass and called Shark Bite, and while the tubing is very inexpensive, these fittings are not, but very easy to use.

When you are ready email me and I will send more info, or if there is interest here I will start another thread with details, photos, etc.

Keep at it
