Stanchions, new model
Dear Friends,

who knows the brand of the new model of stanchions (h. cm 61,5, attached image) that replaced the old ones with plastic top fitting?

Dear Matteo,

the topic is on this thread, too:

http://www.classicswan.org/forum/post_thread.php?thread=635

I have the Goiot stanchions and replaced a couple of them from G&G rigging, here:

Osculati and SVB.de have the same product. Ronstan, as well.

In case I had to replace all the stanchions I would opt for polished aluminum stanchions. They are not very common, but they are lighter and I had with these stanchions a better experience on my previous boat. They would fit better with the bases and the rail, the only disadvantage consists in protecting their holes from the chafing of the lifelines.I think marinescene.co.uk has them on their catalogue.

Fair winds,

Dear Matteo
I would suggest the stanchions were made by a metal shop near the yard. Would you need just one stanchion, or the whole series? They have made many variations during the years, but if you send them measurements or a template they can make identical ones. Pls see website www.wibo.fi
Kind regards
Lars

Dear Lars,

thanks a lot, you are a Gold Mine of info!

As soon as Vanessa will be in her new home waters I will take exact measurements, as some of her stanchions are bent and have to see if I can get them repaired or change

Dear Matteo
A good metal shop should be able to straighten bent stanchions so they look like new.
Kind regards
Lars
