Freezer box for a 431

Hi, I finally installed a Waeco freezer unit to our precious 431 "CAID". As there was no obvious place for it near the galley I decided to add it to the corner of the U-sofa. I designed the installation in such a way that it can always be easily dismantled without leaving traces and restored to its original appearance. The wood material was said to be of "Nauticat" quality when bought - but obviously not as clean as the original Nautor teak.

It was a small and fun project to do during the winter. And most importantly, it is really satisfying to do something real and visible with your own hands!

Some technical facts:

- the unit is Dometic Waeco CFX-35, 12V & 240V.

- new wiring was installed, 3x2,5mm2 240VAC and 2x4mm2 12VDC for the power supply. (*)

- I designed the installation in such a way that it can always be dismantled without leaving traces and restored to its original appearance. the box get colder air directly from the bilges and two low noise computer fans with thermostats take care of the warmed air

(*) I've completely  renewed the electrical system. The main components are:

320Ah main and 160Ah spare lifepo4 batteries + a 100Ah lead acid in parallel as a buffer for the transients

- the new Beta50 engine has 180A Balmar alternator with a programmable Balmar mc-614 voltage control

- Victron Quattro 120A/6000VA charger inverter

- solar panels 250W

Sorry, there's an error. The freezer unit is a CFX-50, slightly bigger than the one mentioned before. It was a very tight fit (+-5mm tolerance) to get it in its place and all of the lids opening without touching any surroundings.

Dear IHe,

looks amazing, you wouldn't know it has been added!

Well done, really like it - and thank you for sharing the details!

Fair winds,

Stefan
