Rudder repair on a 40.

Hi all,

Heavy winds, Lee shore, exhaustion... and sand bank....Anyway, I have some cracks behind the shoe on the rudder and separation on the trailing edge of the rudder. Anybody got experience with rudder repair, drawings etc. The rudder is on my work bench and I am looking at it with grinder in hand...

As usual the boat is fine! Skipper a little embarrassed! Over 50000 offshore miles and go on a sand bank 10 NM from home

"... who has never hit his boat on the ground, please rise his hand...", it happens, don't worry, important is you are safe and Storm Svale (luckily she is a True Swan) is just a bit injuried!

New policy of Nautor is not giving drawings to owners, I am not sure that's even legal (but I am sure this is how to drive away S&S Swan owners from Nautor), anyway all the design archive went from Finland to Spain a few years ago, the Spanish in Badalona have arrogated the right to keep the drawing for themselves only. Incredible behaviour.

You can contact Mystic Seaport Museum, Rachel Kannedy, in charge of the S&S Inc. drawing archive, is absolutely kind and happy to help and she is able to send all drawings you need, and I will send you a PM with contact for 40/007 Owner, who's been hitten by orcas in 2022, and repaired his rudder.
