A short explanation had somehow mysteriously disappeared to accompany the photos. The team at Puerto Calero did a great job in welding and smoothing the corroded Aluminium mast base followed by white epoxy on the lower mast section in the cabin. The steel mast step was derusted and finished with white epoxy. The mast was centered at the partners with a combination of ropes and webbing in preparation for Spartite. Incidentally the original can of Spartite had become hard and unusable. Allspars shipped out a fresh can via DHL from the UK. |

Hello Matteo Thank you for the heads up on the Spartite not being waterproof. I'll make sure the team at Puerto Calero apply the necessary self amalgamating tape at the mast partners. We're waiting for the replacement can of Spartite to arrive. With luck in the next couple of days. Best regards and fair winds for 2026. Michael Dalton Swan 411/022 - Sundance

Spartite poured and setting, at last, at the mast partners. Vaseline was applied on the mast in the area to be covered with Spartite that will allow easier mast removal at a future date. Photos below. Kind regards Michael Dalton Swan 411/022 - Sundance ![]() Mast in cabin prepared for pouring ![]() Spartite poured |
