What to look fo when buying a Swan 43
Is there anythng specific that I need to look at when inspecting a Swan 43? I've had the oil in the bildge answered, thank you. Was wondering if there is any specic about the Swan 43 that I need to look at, The boat I am looking at has had a hard life, and apart from nice cosmetic work, I doubt if there has been any keel/rudder/mast work done. Any suggestions? thx Mark.

This is not specific point for a 43 but for most of our S&S Swans: mast and boom corrosion. Al parts where aluminum is in contact with stainless steel undergo corrosion. When the spars were built there was rubber or special compound to isolate the two metals; after so many years the insulator has gone and corrosion gets in. All boats I know needed some rebuilding of the aluminum in particular at the spreaders/mast junction, at the boom/mast junction and at the foot of the mast. No really unresolvable problem but something that must be cared of.
